Round 1 Report - Moreno Valley Edition

For those of you who couldn’t/didn’t want to go out for Moreno R1’s opening day, here’s what you missed:

The arrangement is a little more unique. All of the counters and the bar are on this middle island and the rest of R1 surrounds it. Not sure where the kitchen is, it may or may not be at the barside.

The place as a whole is notably smaller than Industry R1. I didn’t really notice it at first, I just wrote it off as Moreno R1 being really crowded because WOO NEW PLACE OPENING OMG IT LOOKS SO FUN LETS GO. Then we went back to Industry R1 and holy freaking crap there is so much space i can dance around and not worry (as much) about hitting anyone

It’s also worth noting that there is no jukebox at Moreno R1. Instead, sports broadcasts get displayed on the bowling alley projectors. I like it better than Industry R1 playing music videos.

And for noteworthy machines…

Beatmania IIDX Lincle - 4 credits, timecardable

I didn’t have much of a problem with it on the one time I played, but PHN!X and Stacy seemed to have gripes with it. PHN!X argues that the timing is waaaay off, getting As when he should be getting MAX-50s.

It’s running on a plasma TV, apparently.

DJMAX Technika 3 - 4 credits, timecardable

The machines were offline tonight. Can’t really blame them though, the location just opened, problems were bound to happen. Machines were also terribly quiet, you can’t hear anything over the roar of everything else.

Pop’n Music Fantasia - 4 credits, timecardable

Great condition, not much else to say about it.

GuitarFreaks & DrumMania XG3 - 5 & 4 credits respectively, timecardable

I don’t know if the machines are linked for sessions. Never got around to playing them, so I can’t comment.

ReRave - 4 credits, not timecardable

I think it’s kinda funny how ReRave is not timecardable yet Technika is. It’s also set up for 2 songs per session.

Pump It Up Fiesta EX 2012 - 4 credits, timecardable

Looks like a new cabinet… can’t really attest to it, didn’t play on it.

If you’re wondering, there is no PIU Pro cabinet at this location.

Pac-Man Battle Royale - 4 credits, timecardable

GET SOME FRIENDS AND PLAY THIS GAME IT’S FREAKING AMAZING

HEY INDUSTRY R1 WHY DON’T YOU HAVE THIS GAME YET D:

Initial D 6 AA - 4 credits, not timecardable

It’s at v1.2+D, more up to date than Industry’s set.

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3DX+ - 4 credits, not timecardable

Yeah, you read that right. 4 creds, white swiper. It’s also a set of Japanese cabs, so cards from Industry R1 (and pretty much anywhere else that has WMMT) will not work.

But hey, Porche.

Tekken 6 - 4 credits?, timecardable

Not sure if it’s Bloodline Rebellion.

…it better be.

Galo also says that it’s pretty laggy.

Arcana Heart 3 - 2 credits, timecardable

WAIFU WARS, GO

Ultimate Muscle - ? credits, timecardable

At first I had no idea what the hell the game was. Then I saw some familiar looking faces and I was like “No way. omfg”

King of Fighters 13 - ? credits, timecardable

Not sure if Climax.

Namco Classics Collection Volume 2 - ? credits, timecardable

My old friend from Industry R1 got moved here. I hope it gets some love…

Sonic 4-way Air Hockey - 4 credits/player, timecardable

Okayso, it’s four way air hockey. It’s a square field and each player has their own goal. It’s an absolute free for all, if you get scored on, you lose a life. Get scored on five times and you’re out.

GTI Club - 3 credits, timecardable

Yo, long time no see, GTI Club.

Connect 4 - 6? credits, redemption

HOLY CRAP THAT’S A BIG GAME BOARD

Bejeweled - 4 credits, redemption

Fun fact: Someone already hit the jackpot today.

Speed of Light - 6 credits, redemption

Remember that silly but fun looking game that appeared at AMOA this year where you hit buttons that light up? It’s here, and I have never been so tempted to play it.

That’s about it from the top of my head. All in all, it’s a good place, if a little small. If you’ve been to Industry R1, don’t expect anything incredible, it’s still the same old song and dance.

(Except Pac-Man Battle Royale. This game is amazing fun and Industry R1 should be able to benefit from having it there, it’s such a perfect fit for the venue…)

That’s not to say that this location is absolutely terrible. It’s just the same R1 experience that the Industry R1 goers are already familiar with. If you haven’t been to R1 before and the Moreno Valley location opens up a more viable opportunity, go check it out. I’m sure it’ll only get better from here.

Just watch your step.

Oh, and a couple of sidenotes for Industry R1:

Rumor has it there are plans to bring ID7 to Industry R1.

DDRX3 is not live yet.

Round 1 Report: June 9th, 2012

Jubeat is back up. Still offline.

DDRX2 is back up.

Reached a manager and a tech regarding the shaky PIU platform. The tech is very frustrated. Remember how there was a sign that said “Do not move the platform!”, yet we all still did it? Well, one of the legs is torn off. Like TORN off. There is no socket to attach a new one. He says that the only way to solve this problem is to completely replace the platform. Which, obviously, won’t be cheap.

I should probably bring up the possibility of reducing the price of ID6 soon…

The crack on one of the Pop’n machines has been replaced. Looks all nice and lovely now!

Leftside Technika (…Technika the Third, I think?) machine has one completely fucked up headphone jack. Other one works wonderfully though.

R1 News: 5-18-2012

Okay, so I’m fairly sure everyone’s heard by now, Technika is now 3 credits (from 4) and IIDX is now 4 credits (from 5). But, there were a couple other things that came up during my conversation today.

The new Moreno Valley location that’s opening up soon came up. As most of you may have expected, yes, one of each of the IIDX and Popn machines are moving to Moreno Valley when it opens. But, the new location will have its own set of Technika machines. The ones we have here are here to stay. I’m kinda surprised about this, actually. I thought they’d send one over because the Technika lines are dead. Well, they were dead. I think they’ll be seeing some activity very soon…

Also, I did touch upon everyone’s favorite subject: The possibility of e-amuse at R1. Yes, it’s unlikely. Yes, the odds of PW are more unlikely than official e-amuse. The manager said that they are in talks with some of the highest executives with Konami in regards of having e-amuse set up here. I proposed I start a petition to submit to help R1 convince Konami to bring e-amuse.

Yes, I’m aware this is most likely for naught, very many things considered, but why quit when we haven’t started? I don’t want to give this up without a fight. We need to shout loud! Make ourselves heard! DDR II came stateside because of us, who knows? Maybe we can pull off another miracle. Never know unless you try.

I’ll start carrying around a petition for R1 and Konami to get official e-amuse stateside. If you see me, don’t hesitate to call me over and sign the petition. Once I get enough signatures I’ll submit it to R1. Then, we cross our fingers.
